Of about 10 delivery/courier companies I have dealt with, HDNL are the worst.

I ordered a book in November 2007 for my Dad for Christmas and it arrived by Royal Mail within a week. I wasn't in so I got a card and drove 1/2 a mile to the depot to pick it up. Easy.

I ordered three books for Christmas on the 14th December from Amazon. This time I got a card from the mysterious HDNL. The Home Delivery Network Limited, a smoke and mirrors organisation who can't give you addresses or telephone numbers over the phone, they'll call you not you call them.

I missed the first delivery, so instead of waiting for the 'second delivery' the next day when I wouldn't in again (cos some of us work!) I rang the 0870 number to ask to collect the parcel. They wouldn't give me a conseignment number, a telephone number or address of the depot, apparently they dont have that information, but they did say it was in Morley. The depot would ring me whenever they pulled their finger out to tell me I could collect the parcel.

GOOGLE.

Some nice people had published telephone numbers of the depots across the country (see below). I rang Morley, they were very helpful (no actually they were). They told me my postcode delivery depot was Gildersome, they gave me the number and a couple of names of people to ask for. I rang Gildersome, "office dont open til 9, ring back then" grunt.
Rang back at 9 with my conseignment number I got off Amazon. Eventually after argueing that parcel WAS in their depot they said they would ring me when they found it.
